The List [Post #1]
The List

Caitlin wrote a list for Gabe to make up for the fact she went behind his back. This is just a silly thing, but taken very seriously. He can collect them in random order.

  1. Steal a good bottle of liquor from Victor’s secret stash
  2. Get Chinese food
  3. Put makeup on Victor
  4. Win a pink fluffy unicorn
  5. Make out under the stars
  6. Feed Gabe icecream in bed
  7. Dress up like Princess Leia when she was captured by Jabba the Hut
  8. Cait should set something on fire
  9. Make his favourite dessert and let him eat it from Cait’s body
  10. I love you, you love me, rip my clothes of and curl my toes

RULES
* For Gabriel [Fred] & Caitlin [Ellen] initially. Crashing is allowed.
* All GENEsis and Board rules apply.

“Okay, but what is here?” He set his finger against a point on the outline that didn’t seem to have a specific use.

“If I knew, then I would have written what was there.” Paige snapped.

He frowned when he looked up at her. She had her tight hand tucked behind herself, while she scribbled more descriptions out into the open areas that Elise had mocked up.

“I’m not even sure if there is anything there at all.” Elise offered in an attempt to curb the tension she could see forming between Gabriel’s brows. “I was able to find three schematics of the compound layout and none were identical. That room shows up on two, but there’s a whole other lower level that only shows up on one.”

“Could be storage,” Paige said as she filled in the outline of another room, “could be a black site.”

“You were in that building.” He bent at the hips to try to get her to look at him.

“Yes, Gabriel, I was in that building and I spent a good portion of it trying to get out without getting shot.” Paige finally met his gaze.

He narrowed his eyes and then stood back up to his full height. Paige was being unusually deflective and defensive. He was sure he could trace it back to the argument between them regarding Alex, but he wasn’t going to waver. She had his brother form him for nearly a week, and his nephew from him for three damned years. Rather than bickering further, he left the room.

Caitlin was sitting on a couch in one of the common areas with a cake book in hand. Cake was not on the list. “Where are the kids?”

“All three are entertaining themselves.” She replied. “Legos .”

Ah, simple enough. The three had been at constructing what appeared to be an AT-AT for the last two days without making much of a peep, yet they worked fluidly without hitch.

“Hmm.” He hummed and brought a hand up to scratch at the short hair on his chin. “It’s almost dinner, and tonight I will accept Amazing 66 as your…second measure of apology.” She’d taken her clothes off above the roof the night Alex had decided that he no longer wanted to be dead, so he would count that as her first point on the road to forgiveness.

Frowning, she stared at the book in her hand. Alex, no it was Lexie now, asked her if they could make a cake tomorrow. Just because the little girl felt that a cake would make things much better between everyone. It had to be big her daughter had said. Enough for anyone.

So now she found herself browsing one of the few cake books she had found. They all looked delicious but so damn complicated.

How on Earth would she manage that on her own? She could always ask Megan.

Or Gabriel. If he wasn’t walking around being all sexy angry. Even today when he had said he was going into some sort of recon meeting with Elise and Paige, she could feel his anger radiating off of him.

Cait had gone out and gotten his favourite Chinese food. Amazing 66. It had been on the list anyway and perhaps this way he would soften up a little. Even if he looked sexy as hell when angry, she started to get headaches when he kept the anger up. Lately she started to feel under the weather and perhaps those headaches were a part of it?

Her senses tingled, telling her that Gabe was nearing and her unease lessened. More so when he spoke up, asking about the kids. “All three are entertaining themselves.” She told him without looking up. “Legos.” And ever since, the kids had been quiet. Something else that made her worry. They had this silent communication going and Cait was pretty sure that Lexie was the cause of it.

Caitlin still hadn’t looked up from the cake book, trying to pretend to read the page in front of her. “Amazing 66, huh?” She said amused, loving her predictable husband. She finally put the book away, got up and made her way over to him. “Trust me and close your eyes.” Cait took his hand, and pulled him gently along to their own private living space.

After all, one did not need interruptions when eating Amazing 66. So when she pushed open the door to their living quarters, A smaller sitting area with doors to both their bedroom and the kid’s bedroom, the scent of the Chinese food reached her nose.

“Surprise.” She said closing the door behind them. The coffee table was filled with every single item from the menu and then some. The kids would be busy for a while and if not she had instructed Megan to keep them busy. She had gotten a few gallons of their favourite ice-cream as well.

Trust her…and close his eyes. That was eerily similar to ‘I have something to show you, but don’t freak out.’

He could not handle it at the moment if she revealed someone else alive that should otherwise be lost or dead. His head was going to melt down. Granted, a part of him was grateful that his brothers were alive, and physically undamaged. Scott’s mind remained fractured, and Alex had basically lied to everyone. If Pietro suddenly appeared, or fuck, if the damned Professor showed up out of the woodwork he was done.

Thankfully, a familiar scent tickled his nose and chased any potential freak out to the back of his thoughts. Pecking. Duck. Perfection.

He glanced sideways at her and a smirked tugged at the left corner of his mouth.

The owner of Amazing 66 knew that he was a mutant as he’d arrive at the front door on numerous occasions from the air. He had taken great strides to avoid the establishment once mutants were basically condemned, and he had managed well enough for three years. Until he had happened upon the proprietor at the Tribeca Greenmarket and the man had demanded to know why he had no longer frequented. When Gabe had tried to point out that he was a mutant, the man had slapped him on the shoulder and shouted ‘so?!’. They became regulars again. Only arriving on foot, like normal people.

It was easy to sniff out what sat in wait in the bag. He didn’t understand how anyone could ever deem Chinese food as just that when sniffing at a bag. Each dish had its own nuances, just like coffee, just like wine.

“I accept this effort in regard to the list.” He told her as he stepped around her into the room. Gabriel was more than capable of sharing food and often shoved it into Cait’s mouth to get her to eat. But Amazing 66…it was every man for himself. He dove in at popped the first box open, inhaling greedily, and his eyes rolled back in his head. “Perfect.”

Caitlin just looked at her husband and smiled. She loved this look on his face, the one he got whenever Amazing 66 was on the menu. Like bringing a child into a candy store. Her own stomach started to rumble at the smell of all that food. Perhaps it had been overkill to get everything on the menu that Gabe loved, and he loved everything on that menu, but she had put it on the list.

And the list was sacred right now between them.

“Good.” She said to him when he told her he would accept the effort. “Do you know how hard it is to go unnoticed with four bags of Chinese food?” Cait asked, following him to the table where he dove in and grabbed the first box.

She snorted, watching him practically inhaling the food. Men and their food. She shook her head in amusement and reached for her own box. It was some sort of spicy chicken noodle dish, grabbed a fork and settled down on the couch on the other side of the coffee table.

Crossing her legs lotus style, she took a bite and sighed around her fork. “Yeah, this is perfect.” She agreed.

“Mister Wong, says hi and he put in a box with the Owner’s Special in it?” She questioned, not sure what would be in this owner’s special. The fact that he knew who she was and for whom she was buying all that food, made her question if they came in too often. Would people start to notice?

“It’s not just Chinese food, Caitlin.” He defended his food as he plunged a fork into the succulent duck, then shoved a generous bite into his mouth. The crispy skin practically melted on his tongue. “This is sacred.” He told her between his teeth. It would almost be insulting if she went unnoticed toting that all back to the theater. For a moment he wondered when she had left.

His eyes followed her as she moved across the room and reached into one of the bags. When she bent over just enough to peer inside…he swallowed his bite and just watched her. The way her top stretched just enough for a peek at the skin of her hip. He shoved another bite into his mouth to occupy himself with. Then she was moving again with food and fork in hands, towards one of the couches that she perched on, legs folded.

She took her first bite and he lifted his brows, waiting. She sighed and it was a content sound, he smiled a little too smug as she declared the perfection that was the masterpiece in her mouth. She indicated Mr. Wong having sent his greeting and then she went on. “Oh sweet, that’s probably that braised orange beef he was going on about at the market. Said he was trying port wine instead of sherry.” A good decision, he thought. Fuller flavor that way, especially with beef.

He took a step away from the table, only hesitating when the thought of leaving all the food on the table struck him. Nope. He plucked up one of the bags and set it next to him when he sat beside her. Two feet was a long way away form his food to be out of reach. They could kill two birds with one shot if she left him eat this off of her, but suggesting such would remove the opportunity to do such later. The list would remain. Even if he had to lengthen it himself.

“You’re pretty smart, wife.” He appraised as he swallowed another bite. “It’s a good thing that I married you.” He smiled at her. He was beginning to settle somewhat with the fact that Scott was still in the building, nuttier than Jack Nicholson in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and that Alex was alive. Both factors she had been aware of before him.

A little FF [In-Character] [Post #7]
Closely spaced footsteps moved about in the hall just outside of their room and he willed his children back to their beds. His arm already curled about Cait’s form tensed and drew her more snuggly against himself. The clatter of what had to be a plane or a train against the old wood flooring had him reaching for the blanket he had at some point pushed down towards his hips. He grabbed the edge and yanked it upward, throwing it over both their heads because that was obviously the best course of action to take to hide from miniature versions of himself and his wife.

“Lex, lookit.” Tony’s voice sounded just outside their door, that odd volume that a child assumed when they were ‘trying’ to be quiet. “Lookit, Ben can make it fly.”

“I already knew that.” His daughter’s voice responded. “You could too if you just held it flew away.”

“But look, his is blue.” His son continued.

“Yeah, and Uncle Scott’s is red, and daddy’s is yellow.”

Gabriel frowned and reminded himself the voices belonged to children that barely stood hip high to him when they were beside him. Ben was a bit shorter, but he was younger. He rubbed the back of his free hand against an eye when he realized he had never asked Paige how old Ben actually was. He had no idea when she might have had him, because she had just up and disappeared after Cait had had the twins.

“It’s like they’re a rainbow.” Tony spoke further, his voice dipping slightly as though he were amazed that he had linked that information together.

“A rainbow has more than three colors.” Lex replied.

“They’re primary cowors.” The smaller voice spoke finally, signifying Ben’s presence amongst the other two.

Then there was silence briefly again.

“Oh! I hear Uncle Victor!” Tony declared.

“When the hell did they ever take to calling him Uncle Victor?” He muttered.

Caitlin half woke up when she got pulled more closely to the form lying behind her. She let out a content sigh and a soft giggle when he pulled their blankets over their heads when the kids were making too much noise.

She didn’t mind, and snuggled up some more to him. They both listened to the conversation going on outside their door and the wisdom with which Lexie spoke was far beyond her four years. Sometimes it scared her. Then again, wasn’t that supposed to be true for all mothers?

And then there was Ben, he was like a mini version of Alex but the kid already made himself fit within their little family unit. Both Tony and Lexie made the boy feel like he had been here since forever. Now all they had to do was fix Scott and they could start on mending things. Because there was still tension. A lot of tension.

Cait snorted when her husband inquired about when the kids started to call Victor, uncle.

“You have to blame yourself for that one.” She said through a muffled yawn. “Remember when you wanted to go out for Amazing 66 like a few months ago in the middle of the night?” She continued. “He was the only one awake to watch the kids.” Cait turned in his arms so she could see him. “Apparently, they had a nightmare and he sat in their room all night to ‘protect’ them.” Her daughter had been enamoured ever since with him. And Tony had just followed his sister in calling him uncle from there on.

“So what do you want to do? I’m sure the kids won’t be back for a while.” She told him with a sly grin.

Gabriel scoffed when Caitlin tried to place the blame all on him. So she was trying to spin his midnight romantic date idea to get Chinese food into him being the cause of his children calling Victor Creed ‘uncle’. Sure. It was not as though he had twisted her arm into going as well. He had asked, she could have said no. So really, it was kind of her fault.

Her tone shifted, then, and she prompted him with a question. He frowned slightly, pondering all the possibilities. There were so many thing that they could do without the kids present, and he glanced down at her, eyes bright and a grin plastered to her face.

“Oh, he hummed, lifting his hand to lightly run his fingers against her spine upward towards the base of her neck. “There are a few things that we could do while the kids are…entertained elsewhere.” He shifted onto his side to better face her, drew the same light fingertips over her shoulder and towards her collarbone. Then he leaned closer to her, lifting his hand to cup the side of her neck and brushed the tip of his nose against hers.

His palm gently skimmed her shoulder and headed towards her wrist, then moved onto her bottom and gently dug his fingers in for a handful that he used to draw her closer to himself. He hooked her leg over his hip and then reached for the collar of his shirt.

Reaching just beyond it, he grabbed the pillow by the corner and in a fluid motion, drew it out and plopped it right down on the side of her face.

Caitlin knew that she should have been more specific the moment the words had left her mouth. At the back of her mind a memory surfaced when she had uttered those same words to him. In the end they had ended up replicating the scene from Ghost with them being covered from head to toe in clay, but the shower after wards was so worth it.

So, she went the motions. Letting him caress her, grab her ass and pull her closer to him. Her leg ended up over his hip and she watched in anticipation.

Only ending up with a face full of pillow.

She shrieked, then started laughing. “You’re on Summers!” She snorted, reaching for a pillow of her own and smacking him in the face with it. Pushing the covers away and going in for another swipe.

Sometimes adulting could go on the back burner. She grabbed another pillow from the floor and was now armed with two. She used them like a couple of nunchuck. Waving them around next to her side as she eyed him.

“Well?” She took her pillow fights very seriously.
