Scott Maguire; Too Much?
I find myself at a bit of a crossroads here. I was taking a break from MS but now I'm trying to ease myself back into it again but since then, I've seen that Ellie's gone on a hiatus (I did know, she told me ) but this leaves Scott somewhat plotless as his only connection was to Dean and I don't really like having characters just floating around. I considered retiring him as I do have ideas but I don't want to be one of those people who just change characters whenever they feel like it. I wanna get some longevity out of my characters now which is where the problem with Scott comes in.

I feel that he's a bit too full on if you know what I mean? He's a bit too in your face and childish and hyper and loud which, I think, makes it hard for him to connect with people. I also worried that he was just turning into Marcus for FGB which I certain don't want to happen. He just doesn't work like he is now, I don't think. So, I was hoping you guys would be able to give me some opinions and guidance about what to do?

My main thoughts were the following. 1) just retire him and continue with Elijah. 2) revamp him with a slightly more tolerable personality. 3) just leave him as is and try to keep him as he is now.

Anyway, any suggestions would be more than welcome Thanks.

I actually think he's quite entertaining and definitely has some potential, especially since I've seen how well you inject humor into your posts and a character with such a personality would definitely provide an outlet for whatever craziness comes to mind. I do know that having a crazy character can actually be quite theraputic and could even be a foil for Elijah's more serious personality. I mean, if you want an interaction with a particular person's character, you can experiment with either Elijah or Scott or even both since they're so quite different.

I definitely say you shouldn't retire him. I would suggest leaving him as is and continue to try to form connections. I have seen in the Friendship thread that him and Pandora had a connection there, so perhaps you should consider sending a pm Daphne's way and getting a thread with her. I know she's always looking for new threads and the pair of them could have an interesting friendship.

But if you still want to do some sort of personality revamp, there is the option of injecting a little drama into his life. I'm not saying hit him with it constantly and turn him uber emo, but one, single mishap could be a turning point for a character. Perhaps you could even request a power mission and use it like you would a Devo thread for EC. For a more realistic approach, go ahead and request a Combo mission so he'd have access to all his powers.

Alternatively, remember that SAW offer I had made? If you want, we could have a thread together where I can set something up for Scott to work with. It doesn't have to be SAW-based, but there are other alternatives such as some of the things I use in the Initiations sometimes. If you're game, I can read up on Scott's bio and come up with something specific for him. If you want to lead him in a specific direction, I can work that in for you or we can just throw him into a situation(s) and see what happens.

I have to agree with Codi, you shouldn't retire Scott and don't change him please? He's an absolute funny awesome guy who is really fun to read about. There's a lot of potential there to play with him storyline wise and power wise. If you want to have something happen, Danny's free in The Guides' Arms, maybe we could work on Danny and Scott becoming friends if you need connections. I know that Danny still is WOW'd at the way Scott is hyperactive, he thinks it's awesome so I'm sure he'll love to see Scott again.

Shoot me a PM if you wanna RP.

I agree with the other two. I love Scott, he makes a nice change from all the emo character running around. If you need links for him I'd be happy to have him meet London or Liliana. Both of my girls need friends and I actually think a Scott/London meeting could prove to be very interesting. But yeah I'd say keep him the way he is try and make it work, maybe a month or so down the line if hes not working then get rid of him but give him a proper chance before you retire him.

Scott is awesome ! Don't you dare retire him!

I agree with Codi, we should have a Pandora/Scott thread: it should be interesting. Not now though, Pandora's too busy being emo (and being tortured... so yea Codi, the SAW idea won't be necessary anymore for her since Nick's already having Liambi torture her ). But once she's back to normal, I really think Pandora and Scott could be friends. He's a bit much at times, but that's why we love him .

And maybe Codi's idea of drama would work as well. A least it should cool him down a bit. Nothing too severe, we definitely wouldn't want Scott as an emo, but something to make him realize that the world isn't all fun and games. So yea, Codi's got a point .

I want to thank everyone here for their advice and suggestions I decided to revamp Scott a little with a new AI, making him a bit younger to fit his crazy outlook on life and things.

Solution has been found so if a mod wants to close this now then that's fine by me
