Signature Screening - Check those siggy's!

Welcome to the Signature Check thread, where you post your questions about your signatures, and have it checked by the staff as to fitting the Board Signatute Guidelines, as follows:

Signatures should not exceed 500 pixels by width and 150 pixels by height.
Signatures should not exceed ten lines of text.
You may have a picture and text, but you should alter them to fit in with the guidelines.
You are not allowed animated images in your signatures.
No pornographic, NC-17 or questionable material are allowed in signatures.
If signatures do exceed this allotted amount, the offending sig will be replaced with a warning and link to the sig rules thread.

With these guidelines in mind, you won't go wrong, but if you're still doubtful, post away! :D

Okay. So, I had a siggy, but it's gone. Methinks it was because I had a momentary burst of inspiration and put a box around it, so it looked like this:

So... if the issue wasn't the box, can someone tell me what it was?

Well, Dee, there were two issues really.

The max sig size is 150 x 500. By adding the box, you make the sig wider than 500. Plus you had 2 lines of text before, which added 10 pixels for each line to the height of the sig, which is 145, putting it at 165, which is above the limit. If you change anything, you can request that it is checked here first to make sure that it's within all the limits :nod:

Gotcha. One other question: if I were to have only one line of tiny text above my banner, would I still have to shrink my banner down a bit to fit the guidelines?

Yes. One line = 10 pixels so you have to downsize your banner with 5 pixels to make it fit the guidelines.

Hey, you have to lose the text. Your image is already the max height (150px) which leaves you with no space for text.

When you click on your own profile button in the post bit (the button next to the PM button) you'll go to your member profile and up in the address bar where the url is you see a number at the end behind the = that's your UID

You'll need to use a program which can crop pictures, such as Paint Shop Pro, or Photo Shop. If you don't know how to do this your self, then check out our Gallery (http://www.midnight-shadows.org/forumdisplay.php?f=7) section, where you made find someone kind enough to do it for you.

Also a great program that is freeware that you can download that works well is Ifranview. It resizes and reads almost any pic format.

Suz, you're signature is too wide now. The maximum width for signatures is 500pixels.

I had a banner in my sig that was of an anime character and it was 450x150 but it was taken out of my sig and a link to the signiture guidelines was put there....Is there something wrong with the banner?

No. You had a line of text beneath the banner - which makes the entire signature 160px in height.

The overall height of your signature (which includes banner and text) can be no more than 150px.

You can put the banner back up with no text. Or you can shrink the banner at least 10px to include text. :nod:

Remember, each line of text is counted as 10px in height.

I wanted to ask a question, but since I don't know who suspended my sig, and I don't know where else to ask this, I'm asking it here....

I had a banner in my sig, which was 450x150 I believe, and one line of text in size 1 font. Is it the text that had my sig suspended? Thanks for the help :)

The rules say "Signatures should not exceed 500 pixels by width and 150 pixels by height." So if your banner was already 150 pixels in height and you had one more line of text, then yes, that would be why it was considered too tall :nod:

As long as the total width doesn't go beyond 500 pixels, you should be okay (And same for total height; can't go beyond 150px).

Your sig is 133+10 pixels - which brings it to 143 pixels in height. As long as you don't add another line of text, you're good.
