So, I see nothing here of music so I thought I'd share my two cents and see how people react to it xD

I hardly ever listen to English anymore. I love Japanese music much, much more. A lot of people think I'm weird here in town because no one listens to such things, but it really is a neat style. I love it ^-^

I'm mostly into rock music, but pop music catches my attention too. For bands, I love (oh noes, the list!)

The GazettE
Dir en grey *
Ayumi Hamasaki
The Hello!Project
Utada Hikaru
Alice Nine
Gackt
L'arc~en~ciel
HYDE
X Japan
D
D'espairsRay
Imitation POP NOIZ
Miyavi
176 BIZ
Panic Channel

There are many, many more but I get lazy easily. So, what kind of music do you listen to? Have you seen any of your favourite bands in concert? I saw Dir en grey in concert ... oh ... oh oh oh -giggles- The stories I could tell you about that one!

Oh no. Danyel, you started a music thread! Now you'll never get me to shut up.

I probably listen to more bands than most people have heard of in their lifetime. ^_^; My favorite genre is really anything rock - alt. rock, goth rock, punk rock, emo, screamo, extremo, hardcore, gothicore, rock/electronica, glam rock, classic rock, hard rock, monster rock, shock rock, post-punk, post-hardcore, j-rock... The list goes on and on. I also love metal, though not necessarily the non-stop screaming kind. "Nu-metal" is my favorite type of metal - like Lacuna Coil and Nightwish. Metal with a melody. I'm also in love with Josh Groban and Delta Goodrem, and a little-known gothic folk artist by the name of Voltaire. That man is a genius. ^___^

Oh, and the other genre I've fallen in love with lately is industrial. It's like gothic/metal/dance/electronica. Basically, one would expect to hear it at a gothic nightclub. I don't really dance - not well, anyway - but I love industrial music. In fact, if I get to go to the college I want to go to, I'm currently planning on doing my co-op at the industrial label Metropolis Records.

Okay, favorites? Oy... long list. XD I'll only list about 40 so I don't drive you all insane.

HIM*
Aiden*!
AFI*
Kill Hannah*!
The Birthday Massacre
Papa Roach*
The Last Dance
Voltaire*!
He Is Legend*
Linkin Park
Lacuna Coil
Nightwish
The 69 Eyes
Negative
Malice in Wonderland
Uniklubi
Lordi
Neurosonic
The Vincent Black Shadow
30 Seconds to Mars*
I Am Ghost*!
Escape the Fate*!
The Higher*!
It Dies Today* (I miss the old singer, though...)
Dope Stars Inc.
Motion City Soundtrack
Muse
Lullacry
The GazettE (Thank you, Danyel)
Malice Mizer
Lostprophets
Wumpscut
Flyleaf
Nine Inch Nails
Entwine
Within Temptation
Billy Joel
Bon Jovi
Josh Groban
Delta Goodrem
The Hurlies*! (My dad's current band!)
Tom, Tony, and the Hard Times! (My dad's band back when he was in college. I wish I had their stuff on CD.)

Have I bored you yet? ^_^;

The "*" means I've seen them live, and the "!" means I've met at least one member of the band. My absolute favorite live bands (out of the ones I've seen) are Aiden and Kill Hannah. In fact, those bands have shared ownership of my soul. ^_^ However, I will be seeing at least Lordi, Muse, and Linkin Park come May 5th and 6th, so who knows. And possibly Neurosonic on April 20! *crosses fingers*

Other bands I've seen live are:

Finch
Skindred
Permanent Me
Senses Fail
Nightmare of You
Dillinger Escape Plan
I Killed the Prom Queen
Silverstein
The Matches
Trimm (Sayreville local band)
Exit 39 (local band)
Everett (local band)
MattRabbit (local band)

Okay. I'll shut up now. *sweatdrop*

Me, I'm mostly a rock and hip-hop person. Werid combination huh? Since hardcore rock fans hate hip-hop and vice versa. :-p Though I have an open mind, so I'll listen to any song if it sounds good to me. Maybe even...*shutters* country. I really hate scream-o though, it just sounds really retarded to me. :eh:

My favorite rapper is Mike Shinoda, the man's the best. I look up to him so much. Sean Paul's also one of my favorites, any song of his is good, even if you can't understand half the words he's saying. :-p My favorite bands are Fort Minor, Linkin Park, and 3 Doors Down.

I'm a huge fan of jazz. Hmm, something I thought was boring at first, but when I actually got to listen to it, I discovered I loved it. Heh, blame my ex-piano teacher for first introducing me to jazz on piano. It was love at first sight. Or first sound, whichever you prefer. :elol:

I'm also a huge fan of J-pop, and right now, my fave artist is Yuna Ito. Damn, her vocals are so good. And my fave songs from her are Precious, Endless Story and Truth. I also listen to Gazette (they rock!!!), Aqua Timez, Gackt... and an assortment.

The thing about me is, I can never have one whole album by an artist (except Avril Lavigne), so it's just an assortment. :D

Oh, I love J-pop, if it wasn't for my friend, I would've never known it exist. I like BoA, she is amazing and beauitful. I have all these mixed cds of J-pop, I listen to them, all the time. It's good music, with good lyrics, even though, sometimes I can't understand them, lol.

I also love Aqua, ToyBox, Prozac, all those funky tencho beat, bands. Funny lyrics and awsome tencho beats, that you can listen to in your car, if I had one, lol.

I'm so weird when it comes to music... because people don't see how someone who can listen to screamo likes showtunes. But it's true! o_O Mostly I like rock though, especially indie. It's relaxing! :-p Lemme give a quick look at my Last.fm profile & see what some of my favorite bands are...

Evanescence
Fall Out Boy
The Hush Sound
The Decemberists
Three Days Grace
My Chemical Romance
Silverstein
30 Seconds To Mars
The Academy Is...
Cute Is What We Aim For
Armor For Sleep
Flyleaf
Hawthorne Heights
Jack's Mannequin
Something Corporate
Linkin Park
Senses Fail
Straylight Run
Taking Back Sunday

And of course I'm a fan of a lot of musicals, mainly RENT and Phantom Of The Opera. I loooove singing along to both. Although The Sound Of Music, & Wizard Of Oz are some of my favorites too. West Side Story & Grease have some good songs too, although I don't really love them as much. West Side Story didn't end the way I wanted so therefore I don't like it. :e:p

WHAT?! Since when do screamo fans not like showtunes? o.0 I was raised on Broadway! And I love screamo! ...not nonstop-screaming!screamo, but screamo nonetheless. In fact, when I found out my cousin went to high school with Heather Headly (originator of the roles of both Aida and Nala in Disney's Aida and The Lion King on Broadway) I begged her to show me her high school yearbooksjust so I could find Heather in them. However, my favorite Broadway singer is Lea Salogna. I adore her. She has an absolutely wonderful voice! *sigh*

It's true - why can't a fan of scream-o not like showtunes? People who like a specific genre isn't just isolated in that one genre. It's actually better to immerse yourself in many types and be open minded than be one of those elitists who think they are teh major fan y0.

I am actually really happy to see all these people like Gazette and jpop and such. It makes me so happy!! Knowing that jmusic is getting around is so thrilling, four years ago I could have said "Koda Kumi" and people would have went "Koda who?" so ... it's very good to see it getting noticed finally ^-^

Why would we laugh at your music choices love? I mean, no one really has that right to make fun of music taste - there's a reason why there's so many genres! xDD

Aw neat! You met one of them? Whoo~~ I think the only musician that I've met and chatted with and such is Idlesons, when they came here in town. I got their autographs and hung out with them and got hugs xDD It was fun. I -could- have chatted to Dir en grey but NOOOO. I'm an idiot and completely shut down when they walked by me xDD

I'll spare you listing what I got on my shelves or what the "My Music" folder looks like :-p There's a lot and it's really not limited to a single genre. There's Britney, there's Justin, Placebo, The Prodigy, Nickelback, Korn, Soundtracks (Blade, Da Vinci Code, Disney, etc), Rob Zombie and much more.

Until 5-6 years back I really loved RnB / Hip Hop, until 7 years ago I hearted my techno (yeah, Germans around 18 where I live heart their techno). Then I dipped into Alternative and the percentage of Alternative in my collection is growing steadily.

The only thing I really need in music is a) decent lead vocals (if someone cant sing, don't make me listen) and b) decent melody (just screaming, odd harmonies etc put me off majorly). If it has those two things, usually I don't care much about what genre it gets thrown into.

Right now I pretty much have Three Days Grace and FOB on repeat on WMP. My choice of music however can depend on whether I am writing RP posts at that time :-p

Yep, if the track is on and i'm bopping... you know it rocks my socks!

Ah, I finally found the music thread. I was about to create one too, good thing I didn't. But anyways -- my music tends to be the Adult Alternative genre, but when I drive I like to listen to Rap just because it is good driving music.

I've only been to two concerts sadly, and those were Tori Amos and Neko Case. But I own about 200 CDs....which I have no idea what I'm going to do with when I move to Philly.
