ADA Meeting #209

Anyways lets get to business, yes you read it right this is our very first ADA meeting on Midnight Shadows but our 209th one in the existence of WWD opening up on CTP. The old lot running around here might remember the meetings and we felt that it was time to bring them back. Yay for nostalgia.

So to get things clear this is a meeting, not and I repeat NOT a banter thread. This thread is solely for discussions regarding ADA, your concerns, your questions.

Meetings will run from Sunday till Wednesday/Thursday each week. We'll try to get a sum up in the first post of each new meeting with every important thing that happened during the previous meeting.

With the abundance of members already on this board in the other RPGs I believe we can expect some more ADA and FGB recruits coming our way. I suggest all us ADAers be very accommodating to anyone who hasn't been a part of the WWD before so we can raise activity again :nod:. I know you all will be :) but no harm in mentioning it.

Giving you guys (who don't have access to the employee forums) a head's up. There'll be another venue in the SE for you soon. So if the previous ones haven't really gotten your attention, this one should. Should make for some irritated, but effective, Demons.

We thought we'd try to give people a more open approach to building a character. All the powers that existed before are still there and we are completely open to having people being specific Chaos Demons or Lancers, just didn't want to limit people.

All right, I'm better now. I guess the best way to answer all the questions I've got is to walk around and read now. It's going to take me a while to adjust I think, since I'm very set in the old ways the ADA worked.

I guess I'll start off my 1st post in a meeting by saying that I'm willing to give some people a training thread if they need/want one for any reason-- Trainee ---> Level 2, or even higher if you just want someone to test some things on or whatnot :nod:. I've been trained by some of the best, and I've asked a boatload of questions :elol:, and I've been wanting to give some of that back, and I haven't been around long enough to be a Big Brother yet, so this is kinda a cool way I can do it :nod:.

Depending to who you're sending it and how busy the Warlord is at the time it shouldn't take that long but don't forget to look at the promo guidelines as to what you have to do more to get level 1 ;)

Other than that - with the VAST amount of powers ADA offers at this moment I think bonus powers or weapons in ADA are a bit overkill. The weapons are also an FGB thing btw :-p ADA never had such :-p

Oh no, actually I like that :D Extending the range of Sekhmet's gifts to me appears also as something a lot more easily done than coming up with bonus powers ADA doesn't offer in the normal range one way or another yet. And calling them talismans so sounds nice. Yay for nostaligia xD

Well it would depend on the number of people interested in one. Overall, I think an extra 3-4 Gifts eventually wouldn't be a bad idea. I am sure you like your gift, so why not grant a few other a toy like that? :-p

There are such spells. Maim and torture would certainly be in the list of spell ADA has. And you can send in spells for review at any time. Just can never be guaranteed that they will indeed be added because spells and what they do need to meet certain criteria.

I've always wanted to fight for one, but I think way back in the day there was this unwritten rule that you had to be a level 4 or something. :chin: Then again, adding a few Gifts and holding a tournament to claim them would be fun. Its not level orientated any more. Codi challenged me and she was a T. That said it didn't last long, but any leve can challenge for a gift.

I think what type of tounament should depend on the gift. A Physical one for perhaps a physical orientated gift like mine, and maybe a different elemental type one for an element based gift much like Ellens.

Thing is, we've got a defensive Sekhmet's for each major category that I can think of--elemental, physical, psionic/mental. Seems like defense is covered, so maybe a couple of offensive ones, although this is just a brainstormer here, b/c as I think about it, I'm not really sure how that would work? :shrug:

What FGB has works for FGB. Same for ADA both covens kinds always had their own ways how to handle powers, what concept to put behind them, and in turn what to hand out and what not to. I think if ADA were to hand out more bonus powers, our level 7s would yet again find a way to create something that wouldn't "work it like FGB" :-p

And whoevers are chosen get a power prize for about a month. Oh and if ya'll want some bonus powers/weapons ideas, I can volunteer to write up a couple if I'm just told what the limits are. :-p I actually have a few saved that I had written up for another aspect for WWD and if those don't go through, I've got some alternates I can easily tweak out. :nod:

Mmmm...idea wise, I've got something that's actually a mesh of previous ideas I've had with a few tweaks from others.

See, now that we're merged and also now active on another board with new members sure to come in, I figure we take advantage of the Neutral area. Perhaps since we've got the ADA for the demons only and the FGB for witches only and the Neutral area where we fight and RP together as well as activities, what if we were to create an area for the Neutrals, those who have not yet picked a side? There could be some RP places, some minor physical fighting as well as some specific activities just for them? Sort of to intro them to Role Playing? I mean, right now, they've got a special catagory in Initiation. Perhaps they can even play as the Innocents in the Group Missions...

Bonus bit, perhaps they could have a range of RP-only powers. Powers that can't be used in fights, but would be useful in RP situations that would improve in strength if/when they join a side and start growing in levels. Premonitions (think of Phoebe's, where hers are a LONG way in the future, never something she ever used in fights, right?), Dream-Walking (going into the dreams of sleeping people), Time Travel, Planeswalking (able to go into alternate dimensions at will) and other such abilities. Of course, we'd all pick a power from these as well.

Add in, there could be 3 individuals (most likely ex-Guides or Warlords/Warladies) who make up the Neutral Council/Avatars. As that there are the same number of Guides and Warlords/Warladies on each side, with these three, they would certainly prove to be a tie-breaker in any major dispute since there is an odd number. Oh and a perk: like the Guides/Warlords/Warladies have all the powers of level 6 strength on their respective sides, the Avatars/Neutral Council would have the level 6 strength from both sides. :-p

A little out there, but there you have it. Wonder if that case, since we can have a char on both sides, if we could have a Neutral only char? I suppose even now, we could have Neutral chars, but I assume we'd have to give up either being in the ADA or FGB to have one. Or, how else would we go about it to aquire a Neutral char now?

Funny you should mention that, actually. I had that idea and suggested it about a year ago, along with character class builds (select a certain combinations of powers and you get a title.. think of it kind of like old species but limited to one per coven [ADA Assasin, ADA Warlock, etc. etc.]). I even used those exact same powers that you just said..

But then, that was just when I thought of making levels go up to 10, rather than 7, and after 6 you just gained powers/abilities which improve character rather than fights..

heh, I had mentioned those abilities in an FGB meeting some time ago, though it hadn't gone over well. People still went along with the assumption that they'd be used in fights, despite my insistance that they be RP-only. Ah confusion confusion all around. :shrug:

But the post 6 levels do sound interesting. I mean, you gotta figure that peeps main concern is that when they get up there, there's not much else to look forward to, hence the restarting. Granted, once in the higher levels, it would run into the similar issue, but would just be postponed. However, I still agree it would be cool. This may be a battle RPG, but it's *still* an RPG. Complete with storylines, IC drama and yeah, even the occasional Mary Sue/Gary Stu. :-p Focusing a bit on that end and having some non-battle abilities could prove fun. Now and then, I've seen RP spells from the Grimoire and Book of Shadows used in Havoc and RP threads with some funky results. :-p

Along the line, I had once suggested allowing the option of allowing 6's to go "rogue" as it were. As in, not be a part of a Legion or Coven (meaning the equivalent of Legion in FGB. Figure those who are separate would be able to have their own thing. Like when FGB's got the Gauntlet and are pitted coven against coven, perhaps the rogues could band together or maybe have something else entirely. :shrug:

I don't see why just because of the move those rules should change. Everyone was given a chance with the merge, and since then to sort things out. Seem's like just an excuse to be lazy. If you want to restart, follow the rules like everyone else does.

Kie, I'm almost positive that ever since the merge there has been nothing mandatory. It is mandatory for higher levels to help out train a newer member if thats what you mean. Otherwise newer members have initiation or the big brother/sister program.
