I shaved for the first time yesterday, after my mom told me to "get that ugly **** off your face!" In espanol though of course, lol.
It wasn't that bad, I look mad werid now though. Lemme see if I can get some pictures up, you guys can compare for me right? :-p I just used my dad's razor and water. He doesn't use shaving cream...should ask him for advice one of these days though...:chin: But he's never home so, blah, lol.
So, lemme hear your shaving experiences. :-p

USE SHAVING CREAM DAMNIT!!
Its good for sensitive skin - or for first time shavers, like you. You should remember that your skin, first time shaving, is sensitive to the burn of the razor (crack jokes and I'll be shaving your head! I dunno the right term for 'burn of the razor), so shaving cream preps the skin for the possible wear and tear, moisturizes it so the scrape won't be too bad, and cools the skin down, as well as open up the pores for better shaving.
And oh, be sure to use a razor that is sharp, coz hacking at one area three times in a row is just damaging to both the hair and the skin.
Also, shave in one direction - preferably in the direction of the hairgrowth for the hair above and below the lips, and sideways for sideburns all the way to the edge of the chin. Finally, shave in the opposite direction of the hairgrowth when you're onto the chin.
And girls say men don't have vanity issues...:hum:

And Ste, not sure what kind of girls you know, but I for one know that men can be just as vain as women! :-p

Some females simply don't understand the value of having to look good, as a guy.
And true, some guys look good with the grunge, unshaven look, and some are better of looking clean cut angels! :D
Dunno where I fit into the picture though... but all I ever grow is chin hair and side burns, the rest are history. :-p

I hate the fact I have to shave, but I hate facial hair, only my own of course.
I shave like every four days now, I hate stubble on me and stuff. I've been shaving since I was 13, damn puburtey and hitting it early. :(

Seriously, you do know the wrong type of women! I for one will openly say that any man I will take an interest in has to know how to make himself look handsome. Simple as that.
And sideburns ... evil dude, evil.
So yeah, I tend to end up with the guys that look better when shaved :-p Skin does appreciate not having to kiss a guy with sand paper on his face, if you get my drift :D
And yes, thank god for me :-p Sheesh, you really know how to flatter a girl :-p
Sideburns are not evil! :e:p I have them...long thin ones and I quite like them :e:p Dude, everyone says I look older when I don't shave but when I do- they say I look like some 15 year old :$ I shave but not so often because I get lazy :-p Honestly speaking though- I don't like the thing on my face lol.

Can I just say that some guys with stubble are hot? I mean if it was up to me and it looked good on any guy they didn't have to shave at all :D
So yeah I'm a sucker for facial hair but that doesn't mean I don't like the clean shaved face as well ;)

Of course a man should take pride in his appearance! Not all women like to date bums Ste :elol:
As for me, stubble is sexy as hell, but I have sensitive skin so it tends scrape me up, kinda like rubbing sandpaper across my skin :( And some guys look better with facial hair than others... depends on their look and how their hair grows. If you can grow it without it looking all scraggly (that's a word, I swear!) and it suits the shape of your face and skin tone, then facial hair can be sexy  If you look like a weed whacker had a field day on your face, then no :-p

Chris - you definitely are better suited for a shaven look imo. ^__^ It suits you better, does make you younger too.
I would have to agree with the others females here. When a man takes pride in how he looks he is also generally more attractive. Hence, Rachey likes the men that know how to make themselves look good. Sadly, very few in this area do. >.< Stupid skids throwing on their jeans that fall off and going all 'homeless' looking with facial hair that does not suit them.

Ah dude thats nothing. Wait till you have to shave everyday because work says. That is truly a bitch. As for you I'd advise for now shaving as sparingly as possible. If you start shaving on a regular basis, the more you'l have to shave, so just stick to taking that baby mostache off when you do, leave the rest of your baby features :-p
As for how to shave...
Use hot water, or shave after a shower. Its better for you skin. Use a good quality shaving gel or cream, and make sure that you never shave without it, otherwise it'l be hell for your skin.
Have hot water in the sink, and rinse the blade after every stroke (even more important when you shave your whole face) Does'nt really matter where on your face you start, but always go with the grain for the area above your lip, your side burns and cheeks (when you start shaving them) and did I mention to rinse the blade in the hot water after every stroke?
For the chin and neck you'l get the smoothest shave by shaving in an upwards motion, again keeping the blade wet. Once your done, rinse and dry the blade (it'l last longer) then rinse your face with cold water.
At your age, a nice aloe vera skin moisturiser will help with the razor burn, and keep your skin soft like mine (A) Do not under any circumstance put aftershave on directly after shaving. That shit hurts.

And Ste, not sure what kind of girls you know, but I for one know that men can be just as vain as women! :-p
I have this to say:
:-p A)I <3 your siggy. Josh Holloway is love.
B)I have this to say about guy's facial hair. I know this guy at school (<3, Eric, if for some odd reason you're reading this), and he looks fantastic with facial hair. It's because it doesn't grow in patches - it's a full, healthy beard - and it's NOT BLONDE!!! Blonde facial hair is just a total ick factor (no offense to blonde guys). Makes me think of Nick and Aaron Carter. *shudders* Well, that's just my take on guy's facial hair.
Girls: About waxing. Get it done by a professional, or at the very least, someone who knows what to do. The do-it-yourself kits are a pain in the ass, because you get halfway through, and you have to stop because it hurts so damn bad & it's not even working properly, anyways. ;) If you prefer shaving - like moi - my advice is to invest in a Schick Intuition or a Venus Breeze. They have skin conditioning solids/stuff already surrounding the blade, so no shave gel is required. It just zips along your leg, and I've found that with my Intuition, irritation and razor burn is kept to a minimum. Best part is, it's really not painful, not to the extent waxing is.
Ooooh, but if you do wax, it's cool, because eventually, the hair stops growing. I have a friend (age 23) who's been waxing for the last five years, and there are literally ten hairs on each leg right now. Which means a) you can barely see it, because there are so few hairs - which means you don't have to wax nearly as often - and b) waxing becomes less painful, because there are (duh) less hairs getting yanked out of your skin. So there's the upside of waxing.
~Dee

AMEN! Ok, 5'9" isn't all that tall, but with 35inch inseam (leg length) it's a pain in the butt to do it all the time and only have it grown right back.
I should be grateful though. For some reason all the air on my body is fine and blond despite my head-hair being thick and light brown. But at least I can get away with not shaving in the winter and not looking down to see a nasty forest on my legs.

I agree lol. I don't shave my legs often in the winter at all lol. It itches to much when it starts to grow again lol.
Actually. I am super lucky fo a girl, I mean, I only have to shave once a week really because my leg hair grows super slow. My legs stay super smooth for like five days. Then I wear pnts for a few days cause you et a closer/better shave if you let the hair grow a little... (wonder why?)
Anywho, yeah I use Venus... the divine one so I never buy shave gel or anything. However, I do use a super moisturizing soap cause I have sensitive skin and it's a pain...
Wax. I actually wax my own eyebrows, (quite well too. lol) I think it's easier cause I don't freak out about having lots of pain if I cn do it myself and crap. I also do Rachey's eyebrows with my trusty wax when she comes home. It's cheap. saves money. I can do it, and I did take cosmetology so yeah... I know how to wax eyebrows! However I would NEVER wax my own legs/anything else. I leave that to the professionals. Oh god. I got my bikini line waxed before I went to Jamaica and it hurt like a HUGE *****!!! No joke. I freaking even started to bleed my own blood! O.o Not an experience I want to repeat. A friend of mine also gets her armpits waxed too, she says the armpits are the worst to get waxed actually... Odd. Yeah. I'm to chicken to get that done. Me and my razor are fine! MUAHAHA!

You are a much braver woman than I: 1) for admitting you did that in public and 2) for even getting it done! Getting the eyebrows done is one thing (and it stops hurting after the first dozen or so times it gets done), but ... bikini area? Ouch! Super ouch!

Well, I look at it this way. I shave at the bathroom sink where there is adequate light. I only have to shave maybe a square foot's worth of space and I'm done in about a minute, give or take. It used to take me 10 minutes or more when I first started because I always missed spots here and there. After about a decade of practice, I've got it down to a pretty fine art and I only cut myself when I get distracted. Which is a good thing. :)
At least I don't have to shave a part of my body that requires awkward positions to be assumed in a shower where it's wet and slippery and the light isn't so hot.
Guys have it pretty easy, I think.
ETA: I can't imagine waxing anything, let alone my nether regions. No, sir. I wouldn't like it. My hat's off to you for having the will to do such things, Sarah.

It’s probably because you had shaven before you tried them. When you shave your hair grows back thicker, darker and more often than before. I had that issue. If you wanna get away from having to shave everyday and hate waxing try Nair sensitive care for coarse hair. It’s the purple one. I had super sensitive skin as well as thick hair that wouldn't come off and all depilatories sucked 4$$ as well as burned me. This doesn't. It also works on your bikini area as long as your not going Brazilian ;P

Hmmm, I thought I had posted in here.
My facial hair grows at a stupidly fast rate. I'll shave and then wake up the next morning with stubble and if I leave it a few days, I've got a full blown "Claude beard" going on. Thing is, I'd leave it but it just feels weird. When I'm laying down, I can just feel the hair on my chin and it bugs the hell out of me; so I have to shave like at least three times a week, which is incredibly annoying considering how forgetful I am. I left it three weeks once (just to see what would happen) and I saw myself in the mirror and I actually looked like a drunk hobo (because my hair growns stupidly quickly as well). I rectified that pretty swiftly :-p

Tom, thats not stupidly fast. If I shave in the morning, I have stubble by the evening. Same if I shave in the evening, in the morning I could easily shave again :-p
Though, that said I havent shaved for nearly 4 weeks, and I like it. The itchy feeling you get is a pain, but its only where your skin isn't used to the hair. Same as when you grow hair on any other part of your body where it hasn't been before. :-p

Can I just say that some guys with stubble are hot? I mean if it was up to me and it looked good on any guy they didn't have to shave at all :D
I completely agree. There are a select few guys that do look really good with a stubble.
I don't really mind shaving my legs. But the other parts that I shave are ANNOYING! Half the time I can't see where I'm shaving.
I don't even get waxed for my eyebrows or occasional facial hair either. (Darn my genes!) But I get them threaded.

I'm a very lazy shaver. I've actually grown to like a certain amount of stubble on me, but then it goes beyond that point and the effort of having to shave it is just ugh! Then it can be sore when my electric razor hits a "thick" patch of growth. :-p
Stubble looks amazing on some guys, then there are others that can't pull it off and really shouldn't bother trying.

Well, I'm a very lazy shaver, for example I haven't shaved in like a month, but be beard grows a little slow and I have very bright colors on my mustache so it looks kinda funny. But I don't really care about it :-p

I'm a little slow? or should i just say lazy when it comes to shaving. Which is a little bit of a problem perhaps, been as when i shave by the end of the day i have clearly got stubble. So on occasion with my lack of doing it lets just say it becomes a little overgrown lol. I can't stand a beard for long. I get annoyed. So most of the time i have a rough face. But i do go through phases where i can be bothered to shave.
